Drifter

Developing an app to discover, explore and try something new

Using AI will cost me a fortune

I just realised how expensive it can be to build an app which is running only on AI. I managed today to send a POST request in order to use AI for my project and… I got charged. I got to know I might use sandbox to actually do entire testing without cost, but even if, then it will be expensive.

I wanted the app to be free of charge. For everybody. To make life better. To make life easier for these who uses Drifter. Cost of one request was 0,04 usd. If I will have thousands users sending just 50 requests then I will be doomed. I need to limit it.

I will need to be smart enough to pull more data into one request while still managing to have a small cost. Also I would need to build a database with responses ahead. So it will work more as a static data, and if the user is not satisfied then I will run it with AI. Sounds good to me but definitely a little bit more work. Lucky me to focus on doing it in Danish market for now – not very big country so possible to test and lot by myself.

I think using AI is very exciting and great. I had an idea for very smart app around 8 years ago, but now it is more possible. Still I am not working on it because it is too complex and way too much expensive but.. I still work on something useful. Alexandria commented on one of my posts asking about on what I am working. I probably should include an answer here if anyone wonders about it.

I work on the app called Drifter which suppose to help users to be motivated to action. I got inspired by simply being bored and I found potential that it could help not only me but many others. I hope to be able to receive feedback on prototype and to be able to release it within couple months.

Stay tuned if you want to hear when it is ready and if any of you are based in Denmark and willing to test then it would be also useful if you click subscribe button to be notified once I look for testers 🤗

Have a nice day!

PS. Starting holidays so it might be difficult to develop.
